Do not estimate cooling from outside dimensions alone. Seats, curved walls and safe fill height reduce usable water volume. Use the manufacturer’s published gallons when available.

Insulated versus single-wall barrels

Foam-insulated barrels can substantially reduce holding load. Single-wall barrels are simple and durable but may need external insulation if the system stays cold continuously.

Chiller ports

Factory chiller ports are convenient because they avoid drilling and can preserve warranty/support. Confirm thread type and internal diameter before ordering adapters.
